Bill Staver worked tirelessly on projects at Freedom School including the LifeLab Garden, Book Room, and playground improvements, most recently spearheading the complete renovation of the Kindergarten Playground, now in progress. He also devoted many vacations to working on similar projects abroad, working to improve the quality of life for those who were less fortunate than he felt himself to be.

Bill served as PVFT Union Representative at Freedom School for many years, helping teachers (and administrators) deal with challenges they encountered. For his service to Freedom School and to the greater community, Bill Staver was awarded the Cesar Chavez Educator of the Year Award in 2002. At this time details of services are pending, and will be announced later. Freedom School has lost a great friend and colleague. He will be missed in many ways, but we will pause now and then to reflect how fortunate we were to have known him.
