| 5th
grade graduation
by Christian Torres

The Freedom School 5th graders are graduating June 6th at 6:00 o’clock
at Rolling Hills Middle School. Rolling Hills is on 130 Herman Ave. Mr.
Rick Desimone is the principal. Mr. Richard Hallet, Mr. Henry Michael
are the 2 vice principals. They will be at the graduation.
I spoke with some graduating 5th graders to find what they thought about
graduating. One student said that he thought the color scheme should be
gray and black because they’re Rolling Hills’ uniform colors.
Mrs. Mitani said that the color scheme should be what the kids want. Carlos
(one of the students) said that they should have Blink 182 as the music.
Ramiro (another student) said rap should be the music because he likes
it. Mrs. Mitani said it should be something uplifting with no bad words,
like Pink Floyd.
The two graduates (Carlos and Ramiro) said that the graduation should
be a big celebration because they deserve it. Mrs. Mitani said that she
likes “big” celebrations! She hopes a lot of parents and relatives
come. Carlos says that we should have food there because we will be hungry.
Mrs. Mitani said that if the parents get involved we should have food.
Carlos and Ramiro said that the graduation should be quiet so they can
hear. Also they agree that they should give prizes with the certificates
because we're special. Carlos is going to like this year’s graduation
because we might have food. Ramiro is going to like this year’s
graduation because we are getting to go to Rolling Hills.
Mrs. Mitani’s 2 sons are graduating; one from Jr. High School and
another from High School. She thinks that the graduation class is the
best class she has had. Also, she is going to the graduation because she
wants to have a formal goodbye to all the students.
I would like blue and red as the color schemes. I also would like music
with a good beat. I would like a quiet celebration because we're special.
We shouldn’t have food because a lot of people will pig out. I will
like this year’s graduation. I hope the graduation isn’t that
long or too short. I hope a lot of parents and teachers come.

Freedom’s
new Playground
by Carlos Vasquez

Does everybody know that we are getting lots of brand new playground stuff?
If you don’t know, I’m going to be telling you all about the
new playground at Freedom School. We will get a new playground and new
playground structures at Freedom School. They will be installed this summer.
Both the kindergarten classes and the other classes will get new playgrounds.
It will cost about $51,000.00, and be made by Landscape Structure. Here
are some pictures of playground equipment by Landscape Structure. Ross
Recreation will install the new playground. The color of the new playground
structure will be green, yellow, red, and blue. It will be bigger than
the old playground equipment.

The kindergarten class’s new playground will be so big, that it
will go from the slide to the dome. They will also get new fencing and
a pathway to ride their tricycles. They will build a shaded area for them
to play in.

They will try to save as much from the old playground equipment as possible,
and they will recycle the rest. The new playground will be very safe.
We are going to get a new playground because our old one has been around
since 1986. It is broken and it is dangerous.
